Our volunteers are our greatest asset. They come from all walks of life but have a common desire to help.
Volunteers spend on average 2-3 hours per shift, which can be either the morning or early afternoon, but we are flexible.
On Wednesdays, we stock up on fresh produce, eggs, and dairy products. After that, we replenish our inventory and prepare for the next day when our families visit.
The food bank’s volunteers work flexible schedules, which allows the organization to better plan and prepare for busier periods.
To apply as a regular Food Bank Volunteer, the first step is to complete an application form. You can either mail the completed form to us or, even better, drop it off in person on Thursday mornings.
“Feel free to call the Food Bank, and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have and provide more information about our services.”
After your first month with us, if you choose to continue volunteering with the Okehampton Food Bank, we will initiate a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check on your behalf. You will also have to undertake safeguarding training.
