Volunteer with us

Our volunteers are our greatest asset. They come from all walks of life but have a common desire to help. We currently have a waiting list for new volunteers.

Volunteers spend on average 2-3 hours per shift, which can be either the morning or early afternoon, but we are flexible.

Okehampton Food Bank operates from the lower hall in Okehampton Baptist Church access is by way of the side door by the river next to the East Bridge.

On Thursday we pack new boxes of food to replenish our store and rotate the stock.

When we have finished packing boxes and made all our deliveries we break down and clear away.

Our volunteers work flexible hours. Regular volunteering enables food bank to plan ahead to cope with the busier periods.

Okehampton Food Bank covers a large area delivering to Okehampton and its villages as well as far away as Winkleigh, Chagford and Hatherleigh.

If you would like to apply to become a regular Food Bank Volunteer then first things first you need to fill in an application form. You can either post the forms back to us or even better drop them back on Thursday or Friday mornings.

You are more than welcome to call in on Food Bank and we will do our best to answer any questions you might have and explain more of what we do.

Once you have finished one month with us and if you decide you would like to continue helping Okehampton Food Bank, we will apply for a DBS check on your behalf.

We would also ask you to read our Adult Protection Policy
